Hopscotch My Heart

An Uncommon Poetic Form Prompt

Tried and true you are
high tide rocks my shore
my love
like the rising sun
you will never run
away
lore grazing my mind
your voice like a kind
lifeline

hopscotch my heart when you fingerpaint unlies
hand grazing my thigh gives my bon-bon a rise
choc-late chip waffles in morn sizzles sweet sighs

~I used these directions prompted by @Patrick M. Ohana in response to Somsubhra Banerjee challenge in Uncommon Poetic Forms. The first part is a nine-line poem or stanza that uses an aabaabaab rhyming scheme, where the “a” lines have five syllables and the “b” lines have two syllables. The second piece is a three-line poem with eleven syllables per line, rhyming with an aaa pattern.

I write about love and loss, what I observe and experience — I write about hope. My writing has been described as resiliently defiant.
